Emily is a self-taught artist who grew up in Maryland and now divides her time between California and Lisbon. For 14 years, she has honed her craft on canvas, with a focus on expressive, narrative-driven compositions. Her work has appeared in exhibitions across multiple states, often exploring themes of memory and identity in correlation with the female figure. Through Emily’s art career, she was previously focused on murals doing work in several states while establishing government city projects. She has been interviewed on multiple news channels and has features in several magazines nationwide. As she has been inspired by her new revelation in canvas work, she has stepped back from her main focus being mural work to hone in on her new canvas series.
Currently, she is immersed in her new series, “Reveries of Muse,” which reflects her evolving exploration of dreamlike figures and layered emotions on canvas. These works slip life into spaces through evocative mid-century aesthetics. Inspired by eclectic interior design, warm palettes, and compelling narratives, she focuses on scenes that celebrate the female form. A stillness in space with motion in the characters mind, while smoke and phone rings set motion in the environment. Moments that connect to experiences with every woman, the moments in between, while thinking of loss, gain, love, infatuation, loneliness, grief, and all of life’s effects. As the viewer we can step into the canvas and experience the sensation of the narrative. With each piece, Emily invites viewers into a visual story—where elegance, design, daydream, and narrative merge.
